The Book of Acts – the 10/40 window

This first week of our study covered introductory material on the book of Acts.  As we worked through the questions in Lesson One, we discussed the rapid spread of the Gospel for the first century church.  But…two thousand years later, that very area that experienced such revival is now referred to as the “10/40 Window”.  That window (countries located within 10 and 40 degrees latitude on the globe) now represents the largest concentration of unreached people groups in the world.

There were also discussion questions in this week’s lesson that are meant to challenge us to take action to support the spreading of the gospel through evangelism and missions.  So, this week I think it is appropriate to read this article ( and add the 10/40 Window to your daily prayer list.

Acts 1:8 states that we will be His witnesses…in Jerusalem (our neighborhood), throughout Judea (our community), in Samaria (our state/region), and to the ends of the earth (including the 10/40 window).  The urgency to do this can be found a couple of verses later in 1:11:  “…Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday He will return from heaven in the same way you saw Him go!”  We can start small with witnessing to our neighbor AND we can impact the ends of the earth through prayer for those called out by God to distant places!
